Securing a residential network requires more than merely selecting appropriate hardware and using strong passwords; it involves taking a comprehensive approach to ensuring that all possible attack vectors have been considered. However, hackers are very creative and there can be no comprehensive list of all attack vectors or protection strategies as network security is an ever-changing axiom.
This white paper provides a high-level overview of the composition of local area networks (LANs), the role each component plays in securing the residential network, the many technologies that use these networks, and the potential weaknesses and vulnerabilities therein and how to mitigate exposure.
