CEDIA is releasing an updated version of the Integrated Systems Technician IST Exam and will first be conducting a Beta Exam to ensure that all questions on the final exam meet quality standards. Candidates who participate in the Beta Exam will find out their results in October once the exam has been finalized and the passing score determined.
The new version of the exam is designed around the slightly updated IST Exam Blueprint which will go into effect on September 1, 2026 and was the result of an industry-wide Job Task Analysis survey conducted earlier in the year.
The IST Certification covers a wide range of home technology systems installation practices and is for technicians with at least 3 years of experience or the CIT Certification.
IST Certification BETA Exam Details:
- Beta Exam is around 180 questions, but candidates will only be graded on the 150 questions selected for the final exam.
- Discounted Fee: 50 USD / 35 GBP / 70 AUD

- CEDIA will process your application within 2 business days and send you a scheduling voucher with Kryterion that can be used for one of the following testing options:
Registration is open now through September 30. Upon receipt of application form and fee, IST candidates can begin scheduling their exam for anytime in the testing window of September 1 – 30, 2026.
